Alireza Qasemi becomes secretary of ISFA

Alireza Qasemi is picked as secretary for Iran Short Film Association Awards.

Iranian filmmaker, Alireza Qasemi has been picked as secretary for the 11th edition of the Iran Short Film Association (ISFA) Awards.

The young Iranian director and scriptwriter has been appointed to the position while he has already been the director of the 11th Nahal International Student Short Film Festival in Iran.

He has also been the founder and director of the Globe International Silent film Festival and currently he presides the board of directors of the same event.

Born in 1990, Qasemi started his artistic journey at the Film and Theater department of University of Tehran.

He has written and directed a number of short films, including ‘Better than Neil Armstrong’, ‘Frequency’, ‘Extra Sauce’ and ‘Arezou’.

His most acclaimed short film has been ‘Lunch Time’ which has attended various film festivals and won a number of awards, including the best student short film award at the Jozi Film Festival in South Africa, best student short film award at the Snakes Alley Festival of Film in the US and the best short award at the Inerrobang Film Festival in the US.

In 2017, ‘Lunch time’ won a nomination for the Short Film Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in France.

The ISFA which is an independent association holds an awarding ceremony annually to celebrate the best short films made in Iran.

The event will announce its winners by the end of the summer.
